Praias na Ilha de Vancouver, Canadá - Botanical Beach

Botanical Beach é aquele lugar que quando você chega, fica feliz por ter tomado a decisão de visitar. Esta praia selvagem com águas cristalinas e piscinas naturais (na maré baixa) é berço de muitos animais e aves marinhas. As formações rochosas são espetaculares e renderam-me lindas fotos. Apesar da água cristalina, um banho de mar não é possível, pois a água é um gelo e o mar bem agitado./ Botanical Beach is one place that when you arrive, you feel happy for having made the decision to visit it. This wild beach with crystal clear waters and tide pools (at low tide) is home to many marine animals and seabirds. The rock formations are spectacular and provided me with great shots. Despite the clear water, swimming is not possible because the water is very cold and rough.

A praia faz parte do Juan de Fuca Marine Trail, que é um conjunto de praias interligadas por trilhas. Você tem a opção de conhecer todas as praias através das trilhas, mas para isso é necessário se preparar, pois leva cerca de cinco dias acampando e fazendo trilhas para completar o trajeto todo. Estou me preparando para fazer esse percurso no próximo verão. / The beach is part of the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail, which is a series of beaches linked by trails through the woods. You have the option to visit all the beaches using the trails, but it’s necessary to prepare yourself for it, because it can take approximately five days of hiking to do the whole route. I am preparing to go on this journey next summer.

Como eu ainda não estou preparada para este desafio, eu vou te carro até lá. O percurso leva um pouco mais de duas horas a partir de Victoria. A estrada beira a costa proporcionando vistas espetaculares. Pelo caminho há várias praias, mas fomos direto para a Botanical Beach que localiza-se um pouco depois da cidade de Port Renfrew. Chegamos lá por volta das 9h e o vento estava gelado para mim. Se você vem de um país tropical como eu, recomendo trazer uma jaqueta leve, pois mesmo no verão o vento é gelado em meio as trilhas. / As I’m still not ready for this challenge, I usually drive to there. The scenic drive from Victoria to Botanical Beach takes a little over two hours. Along the way there are several beaches, but we went straight to Botanical Beach which is located just after the town of Port Renfrew. We got there around 9 am and the wind was cold for me. If you come from a tropical country like me, I recommend bringing a light jacket because even in the summer the wind is cold on the trails.

A praia fica cerca de 15 minutos andando do estacionamento. A trilha é fácil e possui banheiros no inicio da mesma. / The beach is about a 15 minute walk from the parking lot. The trail is easy and has restrooms at the beginning of it near the parking lot.

Paramos primeiro na Botany Bay. Um lindo lugar com formações rochosas escuras. Andamos sobre as rochas do lado direito da praia, e de lá curtimos o visual. Não vimos nenhuma baleia, o que costuma ser comum nesta região. Retornamos para a trilha em direção a Botanical Loop Trail, e paramos na Botanical Beach. Lá ficamos por horas, andando pelas rochas e admirando as piscinas naturais. / First we stopped at Botany Bay. A beautiful place with dark rock formations. We walked over the rocks on the right side of the beach, and from there we enjoyed the overlooking. We did not see any whales, even though it is common to see them in this region. We continued on the Botanical Loop Trail towards Botanical Beach. There we wandered around for hours, walking on the rocks and admiring the natural pools.

Ursos (black bears) e cougars podem estar presentes em qualquer momento. Os ursos não são acostumados a se alimentar de lixo de piquenique, por isso, embale muito bem o lixo e leve para fora do parque. Cougars normalmente evitam pessoas e raramente são vistos. Tome precauções, deixando seus animais de estimação pequenos em casa e preste atenção nos seus filhos pequenos para não se aventurarem sozinhos nas áreas de mato. Crianças pequenas tornam-se presas de cougars devido ao seu tamanho. / Black Bear and Cougar may be present at any time. Black bears have not become used to feeding on picnickers’ garbage, so please pack your garbage out of the park. Cougars normally avoid people and are rarely seen. Take precautions by leaving your small pets at home and ensuring your small children do not venture alone into the bush areas.

Tenha cuidado com a força das ondas. Periodicamente e imprevisivelmente uma onda muito grande ou uma série de ondas atingem a praia. Estas ondas podem puxar qualquer visitante desavisado na água. Não deixe as crianças brincarem perto da água./ Be cautious of the force of the waves. They can be VERY DANGEROUS. Periodically and unpredictably a very large wave or a series of waves will hit the beach. These waves can pull an unsuspecting park visitor into the water. Please respect their power. Do not let children play near the surf.

Preste atenção na maré, pois a mesma pode subir repentinamente e você não terá como retornar. Esteja ciente de trilhas de escape, caso o seu caminho de volta esteja bloqueado pelas ondas ou maré alta. / Know what the tide is doing, and be aware of escape trails if your route back is blocked by surf.

Use roupas e calçados adequados para lugares molhados. Eu fui com meu tênis de trilha apropriado para andar em rochas e lugares molhados, mas mesmo assim por falta de atenção acabei escorregando de uma das rochas. Ainda bem que estava no final do passeio./ Be equipped with appropriate outerwear and footwear for wet weather conditions and the very rocky and slippery shoreline.

Botanical Beach 17 — Águia Careca / Bald Eagle

Traga água e algo para comer, pois o lugar mais próximo para comprar alimento é Port Renfrew. Lembre-se de trazer sacolas para embalar bem seu lixo. Carregue o seu lixo de volta com você. / Bring water and something to eat, as the closest place to buy food is Port Renfrew. Remember to bring bags to pack your trash. Carry your garbage back with you.
